This year we are excited to personalize learning for each and every student. The LRJSH staff collaborated extensively to devise a learning schedule that would be innovative in meeting the needs of individual students. This year we have opted for a modified block schedule. All days will continue to be 8-hour period days with the exception of certain specified weeks where Wednesday will include longer periods and fewer hours.
During short weeks where there is a day of no school, in-service, or holiday breaks, there will be no block week. Weeks designated as “Red Week” will continue to be 8-hour periods except on Wednesday of “Red Week” students will only report to hours 1-4. Weeks designated as “Black Week” students will report to hours 5-8 only. On Wednesday of specified “Red or Black Weeks” students will also be granted flex time to work on projects, continued learning, or enjoy social learning. I have included a district calendar with this letter to communicate in advance what weeks are designated for block weeks.
I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Additionally, student handbooks will be distributed at enrollment that include information about the daily operations of the school.
LRJSH staff is dedicated to success and ensuring we are providing the very best for our students. Personalized learning opportunities at LRJSH enhances the acquisition of knowledge and skills for postsecondary success as employable individuals who are prepared for life after high school. Thank you for sharing your student(s) with us!
It is an honor to announce that Little River Junior Senior High will be implementing innovative opportunities for students as associated with our Gemini II Redesign status. It is a huge honor to serve as the Little River Junior/Senior High School principal with the tremendous support from the community, working with talented and committed staff, and learning with the most amazing students. Please feel free to contact me any time at (620)897-6201.
Once again, welcome back! Let’s make it another great year at LRJSH together!
Sincerely,
Audrey A. Herbst
LRJSH Principal
